One reason each of the ‘Big Six’ won’t win the Premier League title
Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic this week joked Liverpool would not win the Premier League because they have Dejan Lovren in defence. It certainly got a good laugh but, perhaps some people do consider this true, even despite Lovren’s claims he is one of the best in the world.Kovacic had a joke at his international team-mate’s expense7

But it does bring up a bigger question, out of all the teams who make up the ‘Big Six’ what is the main issue which could cost them the title in May?Here we have outlined what we believe are the main possible reasons why each club won’t win the Premier League.

Manchester City

Right now, Pep Guardiolas men are leading the division by just two points, despite some dominant performances which put them in pole position for the title.A slip-up could see them drop down the table quickly given how tight it is and it looks like an injury or suspension for Fernandinho could be catastrophic.Manchester City star Fernandinho.7
Manchester City star Fernandinho.
Hes already no longer playing at the level he once was, despite good displays, but in his absence City may really struggle, especially a physical side who go on the offensive.Tottenham targeted this area in their recent match using Moussa Sissoko as a battering ram and aerial threat for his more nimble team-mates to feed off and other sides may follow suit.

Liverpool

This is arguably the best Liverpool team in Premier League history but it does not mean the title is coming to Anfield. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have not been as good as last season but perhaps the biggest obstacle facing the Reds in their title pursuit is a psychological one.Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.7
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
As good as the football has been under Jurgen Klopp, they haven’t had any trophies to show for it. Liverpool have come close on three occasions but choked in the 2016 League Cup and Europa League finals as well as the 2018 Champions League final. So will they really be able to deal with the pressure if they’re still in contention during the final ten games of the season?

Chelsea

Chelsea are one world-class finisher away from a serious title challenge. There is a real talent lurking underneath Alvaro Morata’s broken confidence: you have to be getting in good positions to miss that many chances.Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.7

But Chelsea wouldn’t be four points behind City if Morata could finish, and that gap looks set to stretch unless he improves.

Tottenham Hotspur

Somehow keeping chase despite an astonishing amount of injuries in key areas, Spurs are just five points off top spot. From here its unlikely a title bid will fully flourish but if they do the key area, which will let the club down, are their full-backs.Once their strength, they now have a weak set with Kieran Trippier now negated his excellent set-pieces, ball progression, and crossing with some pretty sloppy play and Ben Davies regressing to what is, roughly, his mean.Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier.7

In reserve, Danny Rose is injured more often than not, Serge Aurier is unreliable, and Kyle Walker-Peters has clearly suffered from a lack of minutes judging by his display against West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal

A title tilt is highly unlikely now after draws with Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Wolves but the Gunners unbeaten run proves it may be possible, if they get winning again soon.Sadly for the Gunners, they still have weak links Unai Emery needs to improves and the main one, for the time being, looks to be Granit Xhaka. Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are starting promisingly following summer moves and need to be trusted together more often.Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.7

Manchester United

Statisticians still give the Red Devils a chance less than one percent of winning the Premier League title. We could present a plethora of reasons about why Jose Mourinho is set to fail miserably in his attempts to win it but they major reason right now is their goals against column.Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has had a tough season.7
